DD Hotazel's Peruvian Puck
Type: Male Suri
Status: Unproven
Birthdate: 5/24/2008
Heritage: Full Peruvian
ARI #: 31312677
Color: Pattern (White, True Black)
Puck was born during a hailstorm on shearing day and is named after the mythical
mischievous nature spirit (who also appears in Shakespeare's, A Midsummer Night's
Dream). He is the first one to be noticed in the pasture.
Puck is a stunning offspring out of two Champion parents. He is a true pinto with
dramatic black and white markings on a strong and very correct frame. His dam has
thrown this color combination in the past (see his sister, DD Peruvian Maxine). He is
a proud male with a majestic stance. His handle is silky and his locks are easily
visible from the outside. His personality is laid back and he carries himself with pride
making him a joy to show. We are waiting to get Pucks biopsy results back and will give them to the new owner if they aren’t back by the time of the sale. In the meantime, his sire’s stats are listed below:
Hotazel’s Skin Biopsy Stats:
51 follicles/sq mm
S/P Ratio: 10.4 to 1
Note: At the time that Hotazel was Biopsied, other stats like % Medullation, level of glands and the spread between the secondaries and primaries were not being measured. However, we think the 30 banners won by his offspring speak to the quality he passes on.
Puck was shown as a juvie, had a year off due to shearing burns and showed again this past spring at MOPACA. Usually, there’s not much competition in the mature classes but there were 5 in his class and puck too first. The judge commented that he stood out from the others in his class and noted the independence of lock which he has retained. We haven’t had the chance to use puck since we own the sire but will be retaining 2 breedings for future use.
Puck’s April 2011 Biopsy Results:
Density- 46 follicles/ sq mm
S/P Ratio-10 to 1
Level 4/4 Glands
100% Secondary Medullation
100 Secondaries averaged 24.5 microns
50 Primary Fibers Averaged 35.4 microns
